2011 Honda Fit - Whats New
The 2011 Honda Fit distinguishes itself from all other subcompacts with its impressive practicality thanks to four-door hatchback versatility and ingenious interior packaging. This five-passenger seating vehicle has a unique second-row "Magic Seat" that either folds flat with the cargo floor, or flips up to carry tall items behind the first row of seats.
New features for 2011 on the Fit (base model) include cruise control, remote entry, a USB audio interface and VSA. The Fit Sport (non-navigation) also gains VSA for 2011, along with carpeted floor mats. The Fit Sport with Navigation (previously equipped with VSA as standard equipment) receives carpeted floor mats as standard equipment. Four new colors are now available - Alabaster Silver Metallic, Polished Metal Metallic, Celestial Blue Metallic and Vortex Blue Pearl - and replace similar colors from the previous model year.
Powertrains and Performance
The Fit is available in two trim levels, base and Sport, both are powered by a 117-hp 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive and a choice of a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic. The Sport gets steering wheel mounted paddle shifters when equipped with the automatic transmission.
The Fit on Safety
Standard safety features include six airbags, four-wheel anti-lock brakes and electronic brake-force distribution. The Sport adds many niceties such as alloy wheels, fog lights, leather steering wheel, and keyless entry with security system. A navigation system is optional on the Sport.
Active Front Head Restraints - Designed to move up and forward in a rear collision, active front head restrains help reduce the likelihood of whiplash injuries in certain rear impacts.
ABS with EBD - The anti-lock braking system (ABS) is arguably the most effective way to maintain steering control during hard braking. So naturally it?s standard. As is Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), a sensory system that monitors and calculates weight balance, and adjusts brake force accordingly.
Front Airbags - The vehicle is equipped with dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags (SRS). One or both of these airbags will be deployed only in the event of a sufficient frontal impact. If deployed, these airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and other factors.
Side Airbags With OPDS - The front passenger?s side airbag features our Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) to help prevent the side airbag from deploying if its sensors detect a child or small-statured person in the airbag?s path of deployment.
Side Curtain Airbags - Help lessen the likelihood of head or neck injuries for outboard occupants in the chance of a sufficient side collision.
Ace Body Structure - The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE) body structure is a Honda-exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions.
Automatic Tensioning Seat Belts - An automatic seat-belt tensioning system helps hold the front-seat occupants securely in a collision. The system is triggered by the same sensors that deploy the airbags.
Side-Impact Door Beams - Four doors. Four more ways to help protect you and your passengers in a side-impact collision. High-tensile steel beams are welded into the doors.
Vehicle Stability Assist - VSA helps sense oversteer and understeer, and responds by adjusting brake pressure and/or reducing engine power. Look for it on all Fit models.
