Redesigned for 2012 the Honda Civic lineup is more fuel efficient with the Honda Civic Hybrid delivering fuel economy estimates of more than 40 mpg(1) on the highway. The 2012 Civic lineup will featuring the widest array of engine choices available in its class, the all new Civic is designed to better meet the diverse needs of the compact-vehicle buyer.

2012 Civic Highlights:

• Six completely redesigned models, including the sporty Civic Si (coupe and sedan), well-equipped and technologically advanced Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe, plus the highly fuel-efficient Civic HF, Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas (formerly Civic GX)
• Advanced safety systems include the Honda-exclusive Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE)™ Body Structure for frontal collision energy management and vehicle-to-vehicle crash compatibility and a long list of standard safety equipment including side curtain airbags, driver's and front passenger's side airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) and anti-lock braking
• Streamlined, expressive "mono-form" exterior styling with clean, flowing lines
• Roomier interior delivers more style and convenience
• Available technology features include a new 5-inch color LCD intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), USB Audio Interface, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink, Bluetooth streaming Audio, and a new Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition and FM Traffic

Civic Powertrains and Performance

In addition to the Civic HF and Civic Hybrid models, the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe and Civic GX Natural Gas models are also estimated to achieve improved fuel economy compared to the current models. The Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe achieve an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 39 mpg(1) on the highway, an improvement of 3 mpg when compared to the current model. The Civic Natural Gas vehicle is anticipated to earn a 7 percent improvement in fuel economy compared to the current model. Along with improved fuel economy, the new Civic lineup also delivers more performance, particularly with the Civic Si. The Civic Si sedan and coupe models will be equipped with a larger, more powerful 2.4-liter engine as well as a new 6-speed manual transmission. The new engine is anticipated to deliver 200 horsepower with 170 ft-lb of torque. Even with the larger engine and a 22 percent increase in torque, Civic Si achieves an EPA Mileage Estimates highway fuel economy of 31 mpg(1); an increase of 2 mpg when compared to the current model. 

Entertainment

The new Civic has a few new tricks, not the least being the new intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) (LX and above). The intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) quickly communicates vital info such as fuel consumption, as well as Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® and turn-by-turn directions for models equipped with available navigation system.

The available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with voice recognition guides you to your destinations. For 2012, the Navi system includes FM traffic, a subscription-free service that alerts you to traffic conditions.

On EX and above models, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® makes calling on-the-go easier. Plus, steering wheel-mounted controls put virtually every onboard system a mere button-push away. The USB Audio Interface lets you bring your music library and play it through the audio system, and it will keep your iPod® charged along the way. Safety

To help keep drivers on course and away from danger, Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) helps sense oversteer or understeer, and then adjusts brake pressure at each wheel and/or reduces engine power to help restore driver control.

Standard 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), help you maintain control during hard braking. Properly inflated tires are crucial for safe operation, so the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts the driver when a tire's pressure reaches a significantly low level.

The 2012 Civic has been engineered to help protect you and your passengers when a frontal collision just cannot be avoided. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. Standard front, front side and side curtain airbags help reduce the likelihood of injuries in a collision.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the 2012 Civic Sedan a "2011 Top Safety Pick," based on more stringent standards implemented in 2010.
