Holmes County features a number of campsites and fishing along English Lake and Odum Lake. Visitors to Holmes County State Park will get a chance to enjoy the gorgeous hardwood forests all year round, with beautifully changing vistas.

Information: Located just over an hour from Jackson MS is Natchez State Park. Natchez State Park is a great destination for nature lovers and history lovers alike. Just ten miles from historic Natchez, MS, Natchez State Park, which is located right on the Mississippi river offers ample camping, boating, fishing, and other activities. Natchez State Parks features numerous developed, tent, and backwoods campsites, as well as a full disc golf course. Make sure to bring the family down here to escape the urban jungle.

Information: Located just under two hours from Jackson, Leroy Percy State Park is a great day trip, or perfect for a weekend of camping. As Mississippi’s oldest state park, Leroy percy features gorgeous artesian springs, acres of cypress trees and giant oaks dripping with Spanish moss, and a full wildlife management area. Seasonal hunting is also available at this park including deer, turkey, squirrel, duck, and dove. Fishing, hiking, and disc golf are also readily accessible at the park.
