A Heart to Worship

A benefit for Ricky Martinez

Doctors say: Ricky needs $700,000 to be put on the transport list man say: Impossible

God says: The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. Luke 18:27

In October of 2012, Ricky was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He was born with a bi-leaflet aortic valve, while a normal heart is equipped with a tri-leaflet valve. Since birth, Ricky’s heart has had to work harder than hearts are designed to and as a result, is now three times the size it should be. On January 27, 2011 Ricky had open-heart surgery to replace his aortic and mitral valve that had ruptured due to the added workload. They also replaced the root of his aorta because it had become so dilated. His doctors were hopeful that with the replacement of the faulty valves, the need for a heart transplant could be postponed. Unfortunately in June, just 5 months after surgery, things changed drastically. Ricky began to feel weak and fatigued and was admitted back into the hospital in July. His heart was too big and tired to pump the amount of blood to meet the needs of his body.

Saturday August 6, 2011 Ricky had his second open-heart surgery to have an LVAD (left ventricle assistant device) put into his chest. The device is installed to take over the function of the left ventricle. The device is a bridge to transplant, not a permanent fix. Ricky still needs a new heart, well more like a new “used” heart. Unfortunately, Ricky’s insurance through the Texas Health Pool will only cover $300,000 towards his transplant surgery. Without an additional $700,000 they will not even place him on the transplant list. That is where we NEED your help. Please join us for a night of praise and worship featuring

Landy Maughon, Bo Whitfield and Mitch Beauman with Pastor Glen Maughon.

It will be a time of worship, praise and prayer! A love offering will be taken at the door for those who are able to contribute. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the fund for Ricky’ heart!
