2011 Honda CR-V – “As Practical as a Backpack”
When Honda introduced the CR-V in 1997 the small SUV market was almost non-existant. While many of the Honda CR-V competitors have grown larger and less fuel efficient, the 2011 CR-V remains true to its origins making it stay at the top of the sales charts year after year.
“As practical as a backpack, this benchmark crossover is an easy, stylish on-size-fits-most car choice,” says Kelley Blue Book.
Fuel economy is just one of the highlights on the Honda CR-V but an important consideration as Mississippi Honda CR-V shoppers see gas prices creep over $3.30 a gallon. Fuel economy just isn’t something the competition can brag about. The CR-V boasts EPA estimated mpg ratings of 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway adding up to an impressive combined rating of 24 mpg overall.
We asked Ben Skirteck, a Honda Master Technician at Patty Peck Honda, to test drive the new 2011 Honda CR-V SE and give his driving impression as well as talk about the advantages of features like the i-VTEC engine as what make the CR-V achieve its low maintanance cost. The CR-V SE (Special Edition), adds to the standard features of the CR-V LX with:
17-inch alloy wheels
160-watt AM/FM/6-disc changer with six speakers
Steering wheel-mounted audio controls
Rear privacy glass
A dynamic forward cabin, a two-tiered grille and a distinctive side profile express the CR-V’s emphasis on upscale style and design. Compact on the outside yet
