Question: What model year introduced the first Honda Accord 4 door sedan?

Answer: 1979

The first generation Honda Accord was available exclusively as a three-door hatchback until 1979 when Honda released an optional four-door sedan. By 1980 185,972 first generation Accords had been sold.

Question: What model year did the first optional four-speed automatic transmission became available in the Accord?

Answer: 1983

The second generation Accord (1982 – 1985) grew larger and by 1983 Honda offered an optional four-speed automatic transmission. By the end of this body style Honda introduced fuel injection in the SEi model increasing horsepower to 101 and improving fuel consumption to 29 city / 40 highway.

Answer: 1995

The Accord debuted a V-6 engine producing 170 horsepower and 165 lb-ft of torque from 2.7 -liters.

Currently more than 95 percent of new Accords sold in the United States are produced(1) at Honda of America Manufacturing Inc.’s Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio. In its 2011 Initial Quality Study (IQS), J.D. Power and Associates named the Accord as having the highest initial quality in its segment. Additionally, Car and Driver magazine has chosen the Honda Accord as one of its “10Best” vehicles 25 times in the 29 years that its editors have conducted the competition, more than any other vehicle in the award’s history.
