How-To-Video: 2017 & 2018 Honda CR-V Walk Away Auto Lock

One of the best features in the EX (and above) 2017 and 2018 CR-V models is the walk away lock option. At Patty Peck Honda, we understand that it’s human nature to forget to lock the car every now and again; thus, we compiled a list of instructions and created a video detailing how to set up the Auto Lock feature. This way, your car remembers when you forget. Just follow the steps below and you’ll be all set to walk away from that car in a hurry.

Step-By-Step Setup: Honda CR-V Walk Away Auto Lock

Engaging the Auto-Lock Feature

Using the touchscreen display:

  • Click the Home button
  • Select Settings
  • Select Vehicle
  • Scroll down and select Door/Window Setup
  • Scroll down and select Walk Away Auto Lock
  • Select Engage
  • Confirm that you wish to enable this setting
  • Step out of the car with the key and take approximately two steps

It’s as easy as 1-2-3! Keep in mind that you can choose to enable a secondary key if another driver is cruising throughout town in the same CR-V. All you have to do is set the feature for a secondary key fob. There will be a Driver 2 option on the screen when you go to enable the second key.

But Wait. There’s more!

You can also set the car to automatically lock once you reach a certain speed (9 mph). Once on the Auto Door Lock screen, click With Vehicle Speed to enable this feature. Now, your car will even lock itself on the move! Believe it or not, we have merely scratched the surface of all the features related to the auto lock option; feel free to click around and discover more settings under Door/Window Setup once you feel comfortable.
