How Does the Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System™ Work?

This system is powered by a combination of a radar transmitter and a forward-facing camera mounted in the front of your vehicle to determine the distance and closing speed of obstacles ahead of you. Whether the obstacle is another vehicle or pedestrian, the radar and high-resolution camera will take in the information it needs to help you avoid a potential accident. Then, visual and audio warnings are given to notify the driver to apply the brakes to avoid or reduce the impact of a collision.

What Are the Stages When Danger is Detected?

There are three stages that the CMBS™ can deploy when a possible collision is detected. These stages include:

• Stage 1: Visual and audio warnings are given to alert the driver of an oncoming obstacle ahead.
• Stage 2: If the risk of a collision increases and no action is taken, the system warnings continue and the brakes are lightly applied to slow down the vehicle.
• Stage 3: If the system determines a collision is unavoidable, it will continue the system warnings and apply strong braking to minimize the impact of the collision.
